Alexandra Lerman is a Russian born artist living and working in New York.

The basis for her work is a desire to negotiate the innate tension between documentary and fiction. Using tactics borrowed from journalism, documentary and fiction filmmaking in the form of interviews, surveillance video and voice over narration she creates a space to reflect on current events, history, philosophy and personal experience.

Alexandra Lerman has studied at the Columbia University, the Cooper Union School of Art and the Slade School of Art at the University College of London.

Her work has been shown at the Janos Gat Gallery, Artists Space, Anthology Film Archives, Chelsea Museum in New York, the Hermitage Museum in St.-Petersburg, Russia and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León in Spain among other venues.
